COMMUNITY PROJECT

Image
For this project, Tessa and I shot images at a local art store, Scrap. We took one picture of the outside of the store, then shot up close images of what's inside. For the collage, we cut out the windows from our outside shot of the store, glued cutout images of all the trinkets inside the store, then put the cutout image of the windows over the small cutouts. This way, when you look at the image, it's as if you're looking inside the store, but all the random materials found inside are right in front of your face.

Cyanotypes

Image
Cyanotype is a photographic process which produces a "cyan blue " print. They are also called "blue prints." It uses two chemicals "ferric ammonium citrate," and "potassium ferricyanide." Good Slideshow of the process of making a cyanotype:  cyanotype process

ACRYLIC GEL LIFT AND TRANSFER

Image
“Small Windows” series by Brady Wilks 2012  The Acrylic gel is used to paint several thin and alternating layers into the inkjet print, which bonds with the ink.  Once the gel is dry. you remove the paper backing by soaking the print in water, and after removing it from the water and drying it (or slightly damp), it becomes a thin and delicate skin. This skin (ink intact) can then be stretched, folded, pinched, ripped, burnt or any number of techniques while applying it to a new substrate giving the artist more control over the aesthetic outcome.  This process makes the photos more unique and "older looking." http://bradywilks.com/process/index.php
